this is INCREADIBLE!
the movement of each part of the sculpture is fantastic and beautiful and the fact that the detailing is done over a period of MONTHS by carefully rusting the metal is absolutely breathtaking!
Its a fantastic piece and a well deserved DD

I'm guessing to build one of these you need to design it in 3d first and then laser CNC the individual panels before shaping them and welding them together. In which case unless it's been filled it probably goes bonk when you knock on it.

From this angle it looks like a pterodactyl. Or, expanding on DamselBirch, two pterodactyls hugging each other. Or wrestling. Or killing each other. :P

its not too hard to see a pair of wings and a tail is it? It helps that the colour is spot on too.

Not to mention the first thing I saw was the head of it on the upper-left. Almost like it's turning its back on us in a cool dynamic pose. And yes, if it were any other colour I wouldn't have seen it :XD:

This is gorgeous! I love the amount of movement you get from each piece. this must have taken ages to weld together... what did you use for the patina?

It's just rusting. Started it with salt water. Corten rusts but doesn't disintegrate like regular steel. Took about a month and a half not counting design work and material shipments. Thanks for the kind words glad you enjoy it.

thats awesome :) did you do it for a commission for a park or something? cause a piece like that needs to be in the public eye!
